beth jump

fly-girl

While everyone else was hanging out in front of backdrops and standing still (not counting the breakdancers), Beth decided she wanted to go airborne. So, she approached after she saw I was done with my jumping shots and asked if she could jump as well. I was more than happy to oblige. She was so much fun to shoot!

chase jarvis hangar shoot video

Chase Jarvis just posted the video that his crew shot at last Friday’s hangar shoot. Check it out for a glimpse into what one of our big Seattle hangar shoots looks like. Watching that vid makes me want to blow off work and go out and shoot.

Also, swing by Chase’s blog to read about the event some more.

Remember that video I posted a yesterday that featured me and Trevin hopping around like wackos? Here’s the final freeze frame that ended up being my favorite shot from the set.

Some shooting and lighting specifics:

  • Shot on a Nikon D300 with Nikkor 10.5mm Fisheye.
  • Lit by 2 Nikon SB-600s at 1/2 power in shoot-through umbrellas at camera left and camera right.
  • Strobes triggered with Pocket Wizards.
  • Camera triggered with a Gadget Infinity wireless remote.
  • Post-processing in Lightroom 2.

Mad props to Trevin for holding that headstand for a couple of minutes’ worth of shooting. I would’ve broken my neck if I had tried it.

breakdancing at hangar 30

warming up

During last Friday’s Chase Jarvis Hangar Shoot, Chase brought in the Fraggle Rock Crew to add motion to our photo shoots. Chase did a quick demo session with them at the beginning of the meetup, and then I was first in line to shoot them afterwards. Not only did I get to work with some awesome dancers, I also got to use some “big-boy” lights.

Here are my three picks from the shoot:

Thanks to Brendan, Tim, and Colleen for their awesome skills!
