I’ve been happier in the past few days than I have been in a long time. I’ve spent some quality time with friends. I went to Portland to hang out with my family for a couple of days. I’m taking photos of things that I enjoy shooting. And the sun is out!
Here are a few images from the past week that make me smile:
There are two events that do stand out as the most smile-worthy things for me.
1) Today is my 33rd birthday. I’ve been stuck in the office all day, but I will be heading out to have a fun and relaxing night with my friends later.
And 2) My sister got engaged last night (that’s her in the picture above)! Congrats!
Needless to say, I am happy today. :)
Sunday night was my dad’s 60th birthday party at JoPa in Portland. His birthday is actually on April 23, but we had the party on April 15, so we could surprise him. And there were also scheduling conflicts, but that’s beside the point. This was the first time *ever* that we were able to surprise him for an event. He was genuinely taken aback and very happy that we all got together to celebrate this big milestone birthday.
Although I was snapping pictures of everyone all night, the nicest pictures were those of my dad and my little cousins. I did get a bunch of everyone else, but they didn’t turn out very well (blurry, misfocused, poorly composed, etc.). I think I was too busy chasing my cousins around or being chased by them. I’m just happy the shots with my dad turned out ok.
Pictured above is myself, my stepmom Shirley, my dad Danny Sr. (yes, I’m a junior), and my sister Debbie. This is one of those rare occasions where we actually got a photo of all four of us together at an event. And, yes, I was brave enough to hand my camera over to someone else to use (he happens to also have a D70, so I was ok with it).
