my first and last sonics game

the beginning of the end

I went to my first and most likely last Sonics game on Sunday night. The Sonics were up 65-62 at the half and were actually in the lead for most of the game, but, by the middle of the third quarter, the meltdown began. Either the Sonics somehow ran out of steam during the last third of the game, or the Kings were just toying with them until the final moments. Regardless, the Sonics lost 107-120.

I’ll admit that this wasn’t the most exciting event I’ve gone to in recent years, but it was definitely fun heckling and joking with a bunch of friends. I even got hassled for bringing in my D300. The guy searching bags at the entrance said “no cameras with removable lenses” and told me I’d have to check my camera with customer service (no way in hell that was going to happen). However, another guy came over and asked “does it have a flash?” I said “No”, and they let me in. Funny thing is I never even pulled my camera out the bag. Not like I’m really worried about it though. It’s highly unlikely that I’ll be going to another Sonics event ever. Plus, I was too busy joking around and snapping pics with my iPhone. :)

I woke up feeling sort of blah this morning and knew that only a donut would make me feel better. So far, it’s working.

Rachel took this awesome jump shot the other night at Gas Works. The jumping was her idea. The jumping and shooting combo was mine.

Spring is here, and what better way to kick it off than by going for a leisurely photostroll through the Bellevue Botanical Garden. Every year I say that I’m not much of a floral photography guy, but then every year I go out and take pictures of flowers. I have no rhyme or reason for why I do that. It just happens. Flowers are pretty and generally willing photography subjects. There’s a nice variety of them I can photograph. And I get to go outside and get some fresh air. And did I say flowers are pretty? ;)
