It was that time of year again. The employees, families, and friends of Amaze Entertainment descended upon Remlinger Farms in Carnation, WA, for the annual Amaze Summer Picnic. There was a flag football tournament. There were potato sack races. There was a water balloon toss contest. There was sumo wrestling. And, of course, there was the watermelon eating contest.

This was my third picnic with the company, and each one has been tons of fun to photograph. The first year was a little awkward for me, since I had only been with the company a few months and still felt like a stranger. Last year was much more comfortable. This year was a cinch. Most people either knew who I was or had already seen me at previous events with camera in hand.

People were joking that I was becoming the official company event photographer, and, really, that’s not far from the truth. I’ve photographed most of the major events at Amaze for the past couple of years, and it seems that I’m usually the only one who gets the full coverage of the events. Obviously, there are plenty of other cameras there, but I usually end up taking on the event photographer role (I do still have fun at the events, of course). I’m not complaining though. It’s a lot of fun, and I get a fair amount of practice doing event photography.

Anyhow, you can check out my photo from this year’s picnic in my Flickr photostream. More photos from Amaze events can be seen in my Amaze Entertainment collection.

For the first time in years, I am without cable. My apartment complex switched cable providers recently, and I decided that it would be a good time to just drop cable entirely. It was costing me $50/month, and I could put that money to better use like paying for film or even just saving it (yeah, right).

Also, I’ve found myself not really watching anything on TV. I would leave my TV on most of the night, but there were only a handful of shows that I would actually watch. Frankly, they’re not worth $50/month. Most of them can be seen online after the episodes air on TV or are not so important that I can’t simply wait for DVD. Plus, I’ve got a ton of DVDs in my Netflix queue. I need to catch up on those.

I wouldn’t mind some more of this weather and to be at the beach enjoying it.
