it’s my birthday!!!

blow out, rock out

Yay! It’s my birthday!!! To celebrate, I’m heading up to Victoria BC with Benn and Brittney to hang out with Andrea and Chuck and probably others. We’re going to the Band of Horses show tonight. We’ll have a Canada Day BBQ on Sunday. And, in between, we’ll probably go crazy around city causing much madness. I’ve got 4 cameras, several lenses, a few flashes, and too many rolls of film packed and ready to go. I should be able to get a few good pics from the trip.

Back on Monday!!!

summertime fun

rock on!!!

Holy cow! It’s been 2 weeks since I last posted here. That means either that I’m uninspired to write anything or that I’m so busy that I don’t have the time/energy to write anything. It’s probably a little bit of both right now. So, I’m taking a quick moment to jot down a few things before a Friday afternoon meeting at work.

The entire month of June has been busy-busy thus far. First there was the trip to Orcas Island. Then we had a bit of crunch time at work. Then there was the Fremont Solstice Parade/Seattle Flickr Meetup. Then I went to Portland for a combination Father’s Day/early birthday dinner. Then I worked a few more late nights at work. And then I had a mini-Strobist lesson with my buddy Jeremy, which is where the photo above came from. And, between all of that, I’ve been learning both Aperture and Lightroom and trying to figure out which app I’m going to end up buying (I’ll be writing more about that at a later date).

There are at least three more big events left for this month. Tomorrow, I’m heading up to Chuckanut Drive and Bellingham with some Flickrites for a photography day-trip. I might go shoot the Pride Festival on Sunday. Thursday is the June Brews and Views Meetup at the Garage. And next Saturday, June 30, is my birthday, and I’m heading up to Victoria, B.C., with Benn and Brittney to hang out with some friends for Canada Day.

I think I’m going to need a lot more coffee if I’m going to keep up this pace all summer. And definitely more drive space for the insane number of photos I shoot each week. And more time to process all those photos. Whew!!!

weekend getaway to orcas island

Last weekend a bunch of friends and I went on a weekend getaway to Orcas Island. We hung out at the beach. We hiked to the summit of Mt. Constitution. We went whale watching and saw a couple of pods of orcas. We BBQ’d all weekend. And I took pictures the entire time (naturally).

There really isn’t a whole lot to say about the trip other than it was an absolute blast. It was good to get away from work and the city, unplug, and decompress for a weekend. The weather was gorgeous the whole time, and I got a bit sunburned from spending so much time outside. It was an exhausting weekend, but it was good.

I went snap-happy during the trip, but only a handful of image are actually worth sharing. I think I’m getting to be a bit more discerning about which images to upload. You can check them out in my Flickr photostream.
