dad’s 60th birthday

all 4 of us

Sunday night was my dad’s 60th birthday party at JoPa in Portland. His birthday is actually on April 23, but we had the party on April 15, so we could surprise him. And there were also scheduling conflicts, but that’s beside the point. This was the first time *ever* that we were able to surprise him for an event. He was genuinely taken aback and very happy that we all got together to celebrate this big milestone birthday.

Although I was snapping pictures of everyone all night, the nicest pictures were those of my dad and my little cousins. I did get a bunch of everyone else, but they didn’t turn out very well (blurry, misfocused, poorly composed, etc.). I think I was too busy chasing my cousins around or being chased by them. I’m just happy the shots with my dad turned out ok.

Pictured above is myself, my stepmom Shirley, my dad Danny Sr. (yes, I’m a junior), and my sister Debbie. This is one of those rare occasions where we actually got a photo of all four of us together at an event. And, yes, I was brave enough to hand my camera over to someone else to use (he happens to also have a D70, so I was ok with it).

red elvises rock the house at the tractor

Kick-ass rock’n'roll from Siberia! Your favorite band! The Red Elvises rock!

They decended upon Seattle last Saturday and absolutely rocked the house at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard. 5 band members, 2 guitars, a banjo, keyboards, an accordion, a big-ass red bass guitar, and, yes, *bellydancers*. How can that not be fun!

Check out my pics from the show in my Flickr photostream. It was hoppin’ good time.

i finally got my wii!!!

At last Saturday’s party, I met a game designer from Nintendo who said he’d hook me up with a Wii. All I had to do was give him a call, swing by Nintendo headquarters, and buy whatever I wanted from the company store. I ended up walking away with a Wii console, a Wii Play bundle that includes a Wii Remote and some mini-games, and an extra Nunchuk controller. Now I don’t have to go hunting in retail stores anymore. So happy. :)

we love spring

Last Sunday, a bunch of friends and I went over to the University of Washington campus to check out the cherry blossoms and enjoy the freakishly nice weather we had. I knew the blossoms had started a while ago, and I was worried that there wouldn’t be anything left to see. Luckily for us, the trees were still in full bloom. We spent the afternoon strolling around the quad and part of campus and taking all sorts of fun pictures with the trees. You can check out my set of photos over in my Flickr photostream.
