a very filling thanksgiving

we ate far too much food

For the first time since I can remember, I didn’t do Thanksgiving with my family this year. I had been working a lot of late nights recently, and I really didn’t feel like dealing with the holiday traffic, so I decided to stay in town for Thanksgiving. It also turned out that a few of my buddies were staying in town as well, so we banded together for our own little holiday celebration.

Scott generously volunteered his place for Thanksgiving dinner. He provided honey-baked ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, and a salad. Tom brought pumpkin pie and ice cream. I brought a couple of bottles of wine. Much food was consumed. A bit of alcohol was drunk. Good times were had.

Pictured here are Kato crashing on the floor and Scott lounging on the couch (Tom’s chilling off-frame to the right). After we ate most of the incredible food, we watched a bunch of episodes from the Family Guy Season 4 DVD set and laughed our butts off. It hurt to laugh at times, because I ate far too much food, but it was still a blast.

All in all, it was a great Thanksgiving. It was very laid-back and relaxing. I ate lots of good food. I drank some good wine. And I got to do all of it with some great friends. Definitely a good way to spend Thanksgiving.

I think you made the right call not to attempt the drive to Portland. Robin and I left Thursday morning and it was stop and go traffic for the first 3 hours of the trip. It took over 5 hours to make it to Portland. It felt like we spent more time driving than we did visiting :-/
