spc – self portrait as a fragrance ad

self portrait as a fragrance ad

This month’s Self Portrait Challenge theme is “Self Portrait As _____“, and I get to fill in the blank. My first submission is “Self Portrait As A Fragrance Ad”.

This was a result of shooting with my new 50mm lens wide open at f/1.8 to blow out the image a bit, then some extreme adjustments of the tone curve in Adobe Camera Raw, and finally a bit of touchup in Photoshop to complete the high key look. It already looked similar to a fragrance ad when I first shot the image, but whitening out the background and blowing out the details of my face really made it look like something I might see in a fashion magazine. I even framed the shot like this with the intention of possibly using this image for some self-promotional material. New business card design maybe? We shall see. For now, it’s my first submission for July’s Self Portrait Challenge.

awesome shot. what’s the name of the fragrance? you should do a whole mock ad campaign! but as a business card works just as well!
