Scott and I spent part of the afternoon hanging out at Pike Place Market today. The weather was gorgeous, there were tons of people around, and there was a musician on every corner. It was a prime opportunity to nab some great photos.
I got in quite a few good shots, but I was caught off guard with a low-battery warning on my D70. As anyone with a D70 knows, the battery meter on the camera is extremely misleading. There are only 3 levels of power: full charge, partially used charge that seems to last forever, and “you have a few moments before the camera shuts off”. I was in the partially used part of the meter since yesterday, so I didn’t think that the batter would die so quickly. As soon as I got the low battery warning, the camera locked up and wouldn’t let me shoot anymore.
Good thing I had my Canon SD10 with me as well, so I continued taking snapshots along the waterfront. Always carry a backup camera. You never know when your primary camera will stop working on you.
As usual, the full set from today can be viewed on my Flickr photostream.
