Not a whole lot to write about lately, so I’ll just mention once again that I have 2 one-year Flickr Pro accounts that I will be giving away later this week. If you haven’t already sent me a link to your current Flickr account, please do so soon. I already have some good links on my list to pick from. I wouldn’t mind getting a few more photostreams to browse through.
I’ll be making my decision on Thursday, June 30 (which also happens to be my 30th birthday). Get your links to me before then!
Stopped by the vet today to get Sheena checked out. A pretty simple surface examination showed that she has some bruising around her ribs. Without doing x-rays, the vet couldn’t tell if anything was fractured, but definitely nothing is broken. Obviously, being trapped in a confined space would cause some trauma, and that’s probably why she hasn’t eaten much in the past couple of days. Otherwise, Sheena appears to be ok.
During the examination, Sheena was pretty alert. She took a few swipes at the vet and the assistant and almost got them a few times. The vet took that as a good sign, because Sheena was aiming in the right direction and moving pretty quickly. Good thing the vet and her assistant have good reflexes, otherwise there would definitely be blood drawn.
I opted to not do blood tests, x-rays, and pain meds, since Sheena seemed to be doing much better today. I’m just going to keep an eye on her this weekend to make sure nothing out of the ordinary happens. She just needs a bit more time to rest and recuperate.
As for me, the official word (from a regular human doctor, not the vet) is that I pulled the muscles in my shoulder area and bruised the ones near my ribcage. It’s nothing serious, just annoying. A bit of ice to ease any swelling and avoiding any major lifting or swinging motions should get me back to normal in a few days.

After yesterday’s scaredy-cat episode, things haven’t been quite as cheery for me and Sheena. My shoulder was killing me all day, making it tough for me to get anything done at work. It hurt to lift my right arm above shoulder level, so I couldn’t stretch out my muscles and try to relax my shoulder. Good thing I was only doing research and planning for my next set of animations and not actually doing any heavy work.
Sheena is still obviously shaken up from the incident. She’s been very mellow and quiet all evening and slow to move around. She’s been sleeping much more than usual, and she has barely eaten anything. However, she has been drinking water, and she did eat a little bit of some soft food later in the evening. She’s also migrating around the apartment to different sleeping spots and not hiding from me. Also, when I talk to her, her tail flops around a bit, which is a good sign that she’s at least calmed down a bit and just recuperating from getting stuck behind the water heater for who knows how long.
She’s still not her usual spastic, jumpy self though. I can actually hold her front paws without her trying to bite me, which is very unusual. She’s extremely sensitive about anyone touching her paws and will promptly bite anyone who attempts to do so – no warning nip, just a straight on bite. I don’t think she injured anything while being stuck, but I’m not exactly an animal care professional. I’m going to try to get a last-minute appointment at the vet tomorrow to get her checked out. Better safe than sorry.
